Micah 1 - EasyEnglish Bible 2024(EASY)

Chapter 1God will destroy the city of Samaria

1This is the message that the Lord gave to Micah, who was born in Moresheth. Micah told this message to the people when Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah ruled Judah as kings. God showed Micah what would happen to the cities of Samaria and Jerusalem.

2Hear this, all you people of the world!

Listen carefully, everyone who lives on the earth!

The Lord God will speak against you.

From his home in heaven he will accuse you.

3Look! The Lord is leaving his home!

He is coming down to march across the earth's high mountains.

4The mountains will melt under his feet,

like wax melts near a fire.

The valleys will break apart.

Rocks will pour down the hills like water.

5All these things will happen

because Jacob's descendants have refused to obey God.

Yes, it is because of the sins of Israel's people.

Who has caused Israel's people to turn against God?

It is their leaders in the city of Samaria!

Where are the places that Judah's people worship false gods?

They are in the city of Jerusalem!

6So the Lord says:

‘I will destroy Samaria

so that it becomes a heap of stones in a field.

People will plant vineyards there!

I will throw the stones from the city walls down into the valley.

I will completely destroy all the buildings.

7I will break all Samaria's idols into pieces.

Fire will destroy all the gifts that the people offered to their false gods.

I will destroy all the images of the gods that they worshipped.

Samaria's people paid prostitutes at those places.

Now enemies will come and they will take away this money.

They will use the money to pay prostitutes in other places.’

God will also punish Judah's people

8Because of this trouble, I will cry aloud and I will weep.

I will walk about without shoes or clothes.

I will cry aloud like a wild dog.

I will scream like an owl.

9Samaria has bad wounds that will not get better.

Now the same trouble will happen to Judah!

It has reached the gates of Jerusalem,

the place where my people live.

10Do not let our enemies in Gath know about our trouble!

Do not show that you are sad!

But you people in Beth-Leaphrah,

roll in the dirt to show that you are upset.

11You people who live in Shaphir,

your enemies will take you away as their prisoners.

You will be ashamed, with no clothes to wear.

The people of Zaanan are afraid to leave their city.

The people at Beth-Ezel weep.

They cannot come to help you.

12The people of Maroth hope for something good to happen.

But the Lord has sent terrible trouble.

It has already reached Jerusalem's city gates.

13You people of Lachish,

get your horses and chariots ready to run away!

You were the first people in Judah to copy Israel's sins.

You caused Jerusalem's people to turn against God.

14You will have to say ‘goodbye’ to the people of Moresheth Gath.

Enemies will destroy their town.

The people of Aczib will deceive Israel's kings.

They will not help them.

15People of Mareshah, the Lord will send an army to attack you.

Israel's great leaders will need to hide in the cave at Adullam.

16People of Judah, show that you are very sad.

Cut all the hair from your heads

to make yourselves bald like vultures.

Your enemies will take away the children that you love.

They will take them away as prisoners to a foreign country.
