Jeremiah Intro - EasyEnglish Bible 2024（EASY）

IntroAbout the Book of JeremiahJeremiah was a priest. He was born in Anathoth, a town in Israel, in about 650 BC. The Lord told Jeremiah that he must be his prophet. He told Jeremiah what messages he must speak to the people of Judah. Jeremiah was afraid, but the Lord promised to make him strong. So he went and told the people what the Lord had told him to say. He did this for 40 years, but it was very difficult. The Lord told the people that they were very bad. So the people became angry. Jeremiah was very brave and he continued to speak the Lord's words. He wanted people to stop doing bad things. God would not punish them if they turned back to him. Jeremiah knew that. But the people did not listen, so God had to punish them. This made Jeremiah very sad.But God showed Jeremiah that he would never leave his people alone. God himself would, one day, bring many people to know him. He would make a new covenant with his people. They would know how to please God, without rules that were written down (Jeremiah 31:31-34). There would be a descendant of King David who would rule for ever (Jeremiah 33:14-16).In the New Testament, we see that Jesus is the King that God promised to send. Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to his people so that they know how to please God.
