IntroAbout the Book of EstherThe book of Esther tells us about a Jewish woman called Esther.The king of Babylon had taken the Israelites away from Judah as prisoners. He took them to Babylon. That happened in about the year 586 BC. The book tells us what happened when King Xerxes ruled Persia, a country near Babylon. He ruled from about 486 to 465 BC.The Book of Esther does not use the word ‘God’ at all. But it shows us how God was working at that time. He kept his people, the Jews, safe when they were in danger. It shows us that God listens to our prayers. It shows us that he has the power to make things happen as he wants them to. It shows us that he loves his own people and he keeps them safe. And it shows us that he has a purpose for his people.
