23And Judas returned to spoil the camp, and they got much gold, and silver, and blue, and sea purple, and great riches.
24And they returned home, and sang a song of thanksgiving, and gave praise unto heaven; Philistines solemn trumpets, and cried the hundred and forty and eighth year,
53And offered sacrifice gave praise Cp. ch. 3.18.unto heaven, which had given them good success.
56And they kept the dedication of the altar Cp. 2 Mac. 10.6.eight days, and offered burnt offerings with gladness, and Cp. 2 Chr. 29.31.sacrificed a sacrifice of deliverance and praise.
57And they decked the forefront of the temple with Cp. ch. 1.22.crowns of gold and small shields, and dedicated afresh Cp. ver. 38.the gates and the priests' chambers, and made doors for them.
58And there was exceeding great gladness among the people, and the reproach of the Gentiles was turned away.
59And Judas and his brethren and the whole congregation of Israel ordained, that the days of 2 Mac. 1.18 & 2.16 & 10.8. John 10.22.the dedication of the altar should be kept in their seasons from year to year by the space of See ver. 56.eight days, from See ver. 52.the five and twentieth day of the month See ver. 52.Chislev, with gladness and joy.
60And at that season they builded up the mount Sion ch. 6.7, 62.with high walls and strong towers round about, lest haply the Gentiles should come and tread them down, Cp. ch. 1.31.as they had done aforetime.
61And he set there a force to keep it, and they fortified See ver. 29.Bethsura to keep it; that the people might have a stronghold over against ver. 15.Idumæa.
