Baruch 3 - Revised Version with Apocrypha 1885, 1895(RV1895)

1O Lord Almighty, thou God of Israel, the to the intent that we should call upon thy name: and we will praise thee in our captivity, called to mind all the iniquity of our fathers, that sinned before thee.

8Behold, we are yet this day in our captivity, where thou hast scattered us, the grave?

12Thou hast forsaken wisdom, where is strength, where is understanding; that thou mayest know also where is the grave, and others are come up in their steads.

20Younger men have seen the light, and dwelt upon the earth: but their way.

22It hath not been heard of in Canaan, neither hath it been seen in wisdom, they perished through their own foolishness.

29Deut. 30.12,13. Rom. 10.6,7.Who hath gone up into heaven, and taken her, and Cp. Ecclus. 24.4.brought her down from the clouds?

30Who hath gone over the sea, and found her, and will bring her Cp. Wis. 7.9. See Job 28.15-19.for choice gold?

31There is none that knoweth her way, nor any that comprehendeth her path.

32Job 28.23.But he that knoweth all things knoweth her, he found her out with his understanding: he that prepared the earth for evermore hath filled it with fourfooted beasts:

33He that sendeth forth the light, and it goeth; he called it, and it obeyed him with fear:

34And the stars shined Cp. Ecclus. 43.10.in their watches, and were glad: when Cp. Ps. 147.4 & Is. 40.26.he called them, they said, Here we be; they shined with gladness unto him that made them.

35This is our God, and there shall none other be accounted of in comparison of him.

36Job 28.23.He hath found out all the way of knowledge, and Cp. Ecclus. 24.8. See Ps. 147.19.hath given it unto Jacob his servant, and to Israel that is beloved of him.

37Afterward did she appear upon earth, and Cp. Prov. 8.31.was conversant with men.
