1For they said within themselves, reasoning not aright,

gave release from Hades.

2Because by mere chance were we born,

And while our heart beateth reason is a spark,

3Which being extinguished, overcome by the heat thereof.

5For our allotted time is our end retreateth not;

Because it is fast sealed, and none turneth it back.

6 that now are;

And let us use the creation with all our soul spring pass us by:

8 found to be of no service.

12But the law,

And layeth to our charge sins against our discipline.

13 servant of the Lord.

14 he shall be visited according to his words.

21Thus reasoned they, and they were led astray;

For wickedness blinded them,

22And they knew not proper being;
