1James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes in the dispersion:
Greetings.
Faith and Wisdom2 has promised to those who love him.
13No one, when tempted, should say, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one.
14But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it;

24for they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like.

27Mt 25.36; Rom 12.2; 1 Jn 5.18Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
