Mark 1The Proclamation of John the Baptist

“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,

who will prepare your way,

3 in the wilderness, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

5And the whole Judean region and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him and were baptized by him in the River Jordan, confessing their sins.

12And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness.

16As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

17And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of people.”

28At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.

Jesus Heals Many at Simon’s House

29 left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

30Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told him about her at once.

31He came and took her by the hand and lifted her up. Then the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

32 he said to him, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

41Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I am willing. Be made clean!”

42Immediately the skin disease left him, and he was made clean.

43After sternly warning him he sent him away at once,

44 could no longer go into a town openly but stayed out in the country, and people came to him from every quarter.
