Matthew 21 - New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition 2021(NRSVUE)

Matthew 21Jesus’s Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem

1When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,

2saying to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me.

3If anyone says anything to you, just say this, ‘The Lord needs them.’ And he will send them immediately.”

4This took place to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet:

5 spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

9 and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.

13 the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became angry

16 went to the second and said the same, and he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go.

31

this was the Lord’s doing,

and it is amazing in our eyes’?

43

45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they realized that he was speaking about them.

46vv 11, 26They wanted to arrest him, but they feared the crowds, because they regarded him as a prophet.
