How can I tell right from wrong?
"A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up in his heart. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up in his heart. A person’s mouth says everything that is in their heart" (Luke 6:45).
"Run away from the evil things that young people long for. Try hard to do what is right. Have faith, love and peace. Do these things together with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart" (2 Timothy 2:22).
"Don’t let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good" (Romans 12:21).
The Bible tells us God’s standard for what is right and wrong.God has given us His Word, the Bible, to tell us how to live. We are called to obey these instructions. He wants us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
Anything that displeases God is wrong. But sometimes, we might not know for sure if something is right or wrong. We can ask ourselves some questions:
•Does the Bible tell me not to do this?
•Do I think it might be wrong?
•Will it hurt someone?
•Why do I want to do this?
Making good choices means we say no to those things that are wrong and say yes to what is good and helpful.
