Do we become angels when we die?

"All things were created in him. He created everything in heaven and on earth. He created everything that can be seen and everything that can’t be seen. He created kings, powers, rulers and authorities. All things have been created by him and for him" (Colossians 1:16).

"I tell you, it is the same in heaven. There is joy in heaven over one sinner who turns away from sin" (Luke 15:10).

No, we do not become angels when we die.

Angels and human beings are both very different from each other. God created angels as angels and humans as humans. Angels were not humans before they became angels.

When a Christian dies, we are automatically with God. Our body is dead, but our spirit is alive and goes to be with Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:8). We do not become angels.

Angels and humans are both important to God and each have their purpose to serve Him. We will get to glorify God together with the angels in Heaven. That will be a truly happy day!
