How do I know when God is telling me something?
"By using Scripture, the servant of God can be completely prepared to do every good thing" (2 Timothy 3:17).
"How can a young person keep their life pure? By living according to your word" (Psalm 119:9).
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways obey him. Then he will make your paths smooth and straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Seek counsel through the Bible and prayer.God speaks to us through the Bible. We can also communicate with God through prayer. The Holy Spirit can tell us things too. He guides us through the Bible. If the Bible tells you to do something, then the right thing to do is follow God’s directions.
God only tells you to do the right thing. He would never want you to do something bad. You can never go wrong if you follow the Bible. The Bible is a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).
Praying can also help you discern what God is telling you. If you spend time in prayer and reading the Bible, you will learn to recognize God’s voice. God can nudge you to take a step of faith. God wants you to be brave and step out in faith (Joshua 1:9).
