What does it mean that God is infinite?
"Our God is in heaven. He does anything he wants to do" (Psalm 115:3).
"...I am God. There is no other God. I am God. There is no one like me" (Isaiah 46:9).
"Nothing God created is hidden from him. His eyes see everything..." (Hebrews 4:13).
When we say God is "infinite," we mean He isn’t limited by time or space. He has no limits at all, and can do anything.Human are not infinite. We’re limited by space, which means we are only present in our own bodies. We’re also limited by time. We’re born, we live for a certain number of years, and we die. But God doesn’t have those limits. He can be anywhere and everywhere all the time. Another way of saying this is by using another big word: omnipresent (om-nee-present).
God also isn’t limited by time. He is eternal, which means He has no beginning or end. So God knows everything that will happen at any time. He is all-knowing, or
omniscient (om-ni-shent). The Bible says, "...God is greater than our hearts. And he knows everything" (1 John 3:20).
God is also
omnipotent (om-ni-poe-tent), which means He has all the power. He can do anything He wants, like create an entire universe. “But with God, all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
Because God is infinite, we can worship Him and trust Him. He is so much greater than us, and He has the power to take care of us.
