How long ago did Jesus live?

"In the beginning, the Word was already there. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made through him. Nothing that has been made was made without him" (John 1:1–3).

"God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life" (John 3:16).

"Christ is the exact likeness of God, who can’t be seen. He is first, and he is over all of creation. All things were created by him. He created everything in heaven and on earth. He created everything that can be seen and everything that can’t be seen. He created kings, powers, rulers and authorities. Everything was created by him and for him. Before anything was created, he was already there. He holds everything together" (Colossians 1:15–17).

Jesus lived on earth about 2,000 years ago, but He has always been living as God the Son!

Your grandparents were probably born 60 or 70 years ago. But Jesus was born more than 2,000 years ago! His birth is the most important birth in all of history.

Each of us had a beginning inside our mothers. But Jesus has always existed, even before He was born on the earth! Before the world began, Jesus was always with God and was God (John 1:1–2). God is one God in three Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As God the Son, Jesus is eternal, which means He has no beginning or end.

Jesus became a human about 2,000 years ago when He was born to the virgin Mary by the Holy Spirit—so God is Jesus’ Father (Luke 1:26–35). Jesus had a human body when He came to earth, but He never stopped being God the Son (John 1:14). He is God and Man at the same time: the perfect God-Man.

Jesus is God! Read the Bible verses below to see that Jesus is the perfect God-Man. Jesus is alive eternally and gives believing sinners eternal life.
