Who was Eve in the Bible?

"So God created human beings in his own likeness. He created them to be like himself. He created them as male and female" (Genesis 1:27).

"Adam named his wife Eve. She would become the mother of every living person" (Genesis 3:20).

"The LORD God said to the woman, 'I will increase your pain when you give birth. You will be in great pain when you have children. You will long for your husband. And he will rule over you'" (Genesis 3:16).

Eve was the first woman God created.

The Bible tells us Eve was the first woman God created. She was created out of Adam’s rib (Genesis 2:21). Eve is said to be the mother of all the living because everyone came from her family line. Just as Adam was made in God’s image, Eve was also made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and God loved Eve the same as He loved Adam.

Eve was tempted by the serpent in the garden of Eden and she freely ate of the forbidden fruit. God had directly told Adam and Eve not to eat of the fruit, but they disobeyed. Due to Adam and Eve’s disobedience, they both were cursed. Eve’s curse was that she would have pains in childbearing, she would long for her husband, and he would rule over her (Genesis 3:16).

Even though Adam and Eve sinned against God by disobeying Him, He still loved them. God’s love for them was greater than anything else. They were the first people in His great true story, the Bible.
