The end-times false prophet, described in Revelation 13, will deceive many, influence others to worship the Antichrist, and bring about the mark of the beast. Believers can stand firm against this false prophet and other false prophets by knowing and living by the truth.
The end-times false prophet will deceive many and enforce worship of the Antichrist.
The end-times false prophet will speak on behalf of the dragon, Satan.
The end-times false prophet will be judged and cast into the lake of fire.
How can you guard yourself against deception from false prophets today?
What signs of false teaching have you noticed, and how do they compare to biblical warnings?
How does knowing the end of the false prophet’s story give you confidence in standing for the truth?
How can we remain grounded in biblical truth amid increasing deception?
What are practical ways we can test teachings and leaders to ensure they align with Scripture?
How should we respond when we see others being led astray by false teachings?
The end-times false prophet, mentioned in Revelation 13, is a key figure who will deceive many during the tribulation. He will operate alongside the Antichrist, performing signs and causing people to worship him, including forcing them to take the mark of the beast. This false prophet will lead people astray, assemble forces for the battle of Armageddon, and ultimately be cast into the lake of fire for eternal punishment. The Bible warns against false prophets who seek to deceive and destroy. We can stand firm against current false prophets and the end-times false prophet by knowing and living in the truth.
Believers need not fear this end-times false prophet now, but there are many other false prophets in existence today. Those who promote teachings that are contrary to the clear teachings of Scripture are to be rejected, knowing they will receive similar judgment in the end. As 2 Timothy 4:3–5 says: "For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry."
We can tell false prophets by knowing the truth. We are called to remain vigilant and rooted in God's Word, testing all teachings against Scripture. We can check a person’s fruit to see if their messages are true or not. A prophet who does not practice what they preach, or who is saying things for their own gain, is not a true prophet. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing trying to deceive people. As we stand firm in the truth, we can identify and reject falsehoods. Knowing the truth for ourselves is great, but we should also care for unbelievers who do not have this assurance. We should care that unbelievers at least have the opportunity to hear the truth, so they are not led astray. We cannot force others to know the truth, but we can help them discern the truth from lies and protect ourselves from the destructive influence of false teachings.
