My teacher has favorites. What does the Bible say about favoritism?

"God treats everyone the same" (Romans 2:11).

"Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. When you warn them, don’t be too hard on them. You know that the God who is their Master and yours is in heaven. And he treats everyone the same" (Ephesians 6:9).

"Anyone who does wrong will be paid back for what they do. God treats everyone the same" (Colossians 3:25).

"My brothers and sisters, you are believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. So treat everyone the same" (James 2:1).

The Bible says we shouldn’t play favorites.

God does not have favorites. He doesn’t love anyone more than anybody else. God loves each of us equally. As Christians, we are not to show favoritism either. Having favorites is a sin.

Humans tend to have favorites. This is wrong. Favoritism causes people to feel unloved. If you are not the teacher’s favorite, it will make you feel really sad. In the same way, we should never want to make someone feel unloved. We show Jesus’ love when we don’t have favorites.

Favoritism is always bad. God tells us to love all people the same. When we have favorites, it hurts God and others.
