Is abortion wrong?

"Do not murder" (Exodus 20:13).

"You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together inside my mother’s body. How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well. None of my bones was hidden from you when you made me inside my mother’s body. That place was as dark as the deepest parts of the earth. When you were putting me together there, your eyes saw my body even before it was formed. You planned how many days I would live. You wrote down the number of them in your book before I had lived through even one of them" (Psalm 139:13-16).

"Before I formed you in your mother’s body I chose you. Before you were born I set you apart to serve me. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations" (Jeremiah 1:5).

Yes, abortion is wrong.

God created all people in His image (Genesis 1:27). He created each baby amazing and wonderful (Psalm 139:13-16). He values each baby’s life.

The Bible says God knew us before we were born (Jeremiah 1:5). A baby’s life starts at the moment of conception. This means a baby is a real person starting the moment God makes him or her. God is clear that no baby should be aborted under any circumstance.

Each baby is made in God’s image with the purpose of glorifying Him. When a mom finds herself with a decision of keeping her baby or not, we are called to help her and pray for her. Her community and church can step in to help support her emotionally and spiritually.
