How long ago did the people in the Bible live?

"Adam lived a total of 930 years. And then he died" (Genesis 5:5).

"Methuselah lived a total of 969 years. And then he died" (Genesis 5:27).

"We live to be about 70. Or we may live to be 80, if we stay healthy. But even our best days are filled with trouble and sorrow. The years quickly pass, and we are gone" (Psalm 90:10).

The earliest people in the Bible lived in the year of 4000 BC, which is over 6000 years ago!

It’s hard to determine the years that people in the Bible lived. Those who study biblical history can give us an idea of when our favorite people in the Bible lived. Here are some estimates:

Adam and Eve were the first people to have lived. They were alive during the time period of 4000-3070 BC. The flood came during Noah's life and he was alive between 2943-1993 BC. This means the flood would have happened at some point during this time period.

Abraham was alive during the time of 2241-2066 BC. This is when he would have left his homeland. Isaac, who was Abraham and Sarah's child, would have been alive during 2141-1961 BC. Isaac's son, Jacob, was alive during 2081-1934.

From the Exodus to the Babylonian Captivity lasted throughout the years of 1526-535 BC. Moses started the Exodus in the years of 1526 and this time period ends with Daniel in the year of 535 BC. The return of the Exile to the Prophets started with Ezra in 500 BC and ended with Malachi in 400 BC.

John the Baptist came in 5 BC and died in AD 27. Jesus was also born in approximately 5 BC and died in approximately AD 33. Paul the Apostle lived from AD 5 to around AD 67. Lastly, John the Apostle lived from AD 5 until AD 95.

As we can see, the people in the Bible lived a long time ago!
