Matthew 5 - Revised Standard Version(RSV)

shall be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother shall be liable to the council, and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be liable to the hell of fire.

So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell.

Ex 21.24; Lev 24.20; Deut 19.21. “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’

Lk 6.29-30; 1 Cor 6.7; Rom 12.17; 1 Pet 2.19; 3.9; Prov 24.29. But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also;

and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well;

and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.

Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.

Lk 6.27-28,32-36; Lev 19.18; Prov 25.21-22. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

And if you salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

Lev 19.2. You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
