Did Jesus talk to children when He lived on earth?

"Jesus called a little child over to him. He had the child stand among them. Jesus said, 'What I’m about to tell you is true. You need to change and become like little children. If you don’t, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Anyone who becomes as free of pride as this child is the most important in the kingdom of heaven'" (Matthew 18:2–4).

"Some people did accept him. They believed in his name. He gave them the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).

"Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them'" (Matthew 19:14).

Jesus cares very much for children, and He showed that when He was on earth.

Although the Bible doesn’t record a time when Jesus talked to children directly, that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. We do know that there were small children with their parents at places where Jesus was teaching.

In Matthew 19:13–15 we can read about a time when some parents brought their children to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples did not want the children to bother Jesus, but Jesus told the disciples to let the children come to Him. He spent some time blessing these children before He went on His way.

Jesus told the people, "the kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them (the children)" (Matthew 19:14b). Jesus was saying that all people must be like little children if they want to enter heaven. Jesus meant that people need to trust Him and depend on Him, like a child with his parents.

Did you know that we all are Jesus' children if we believe in Him? When we believe in Jesus, we change and become like little children, even if we’re already grown up. And Jesus talks to all of His children. If we believe in Him, we will have a relationship with Him that will allow us to talk with Him at any time through prayer. Isn’t that amazing?
