Is a miracle and magic the same thing?

"God did extraordinary miracles through Paul" (Acts 19:11).

"But the magicians did the same things by doing their magic tricks. They also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt" (Exodus 8:7).

"Meanwhile, he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast. Many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing. And they believed in his name" (John 2:23).

A miracle and magic are not the same thing.

A miracle is a supernatural event of God. Miracles are always good. Miracles and magic are not the same. Jesus did not use magic to do miracles. He is God, which is why He could perform miracles.

Most kids’ magicians are actually illusionists. They perform acts that trick your eye. The Bible does not forbid you from watching an illusionist as long as you have your parents’ permission.

Real magic that is from the occult is condemned in the Bible (Deuteronomy 18:10-12). Magic that summons powers of demons is wrong.

Miracles and magic have different purposes. Miracles have the purpose to glorify God. Magic does not. Magic tries to manipulate God.

Jesus performed many miracles. He performed them because He is God. Paul and Peter also performed miracles. This is because God was working through them. Miracles are good. Magic is not.
