My friend says he is a believer. What does that mean?

"More and more men and women believed in the Lord. They joined the other believers" (Acts 5:14).

"My brothers and sisters, you are believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. So treat everyone the same" (James 2:1).

A believer of Jesus is someone who believes in Jesus’ teaching and trusts in Him for salvation.

The dictionary defines a believer as "one who professes a religious faith." In the Christian world, a believer is someone who believes in Jesus' teaching—that we are sinners, separated from God, and Jesus died for our sins and rose again. First Corinthians 15:3-4 says, "...Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as Scripture said he would be."

Jesus offers hope to those who put their trust in Him. The Bible mentions several benefits of being a believer of Jesus. Here are just a few of them:

• "Anyone who believes in the Son has eternal life" (John 3:36).

• Believers have the right to become children of God (John 1:12).

• Believers have the help of the Holy Spirit to guide them into all the truth (John 16:13).

As believers, we can choose to turn to God for help when the challenging times come. He only wants us to ask Him (John 14:13-14). God also wants us to let the world know the good news of Jesus. He did not design believers to be secret, but He designed us to go to the world and let everyone know the good news of Jesus.
