Does God have favorites?

"God treats everyone the same" (Romans 2:11).

"But here is how God has shown his love for us. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).

God doesn't have favorites.

Even though God loves every person He has created, some things in the Bible seem to show that God blesses certain people in a special way. For example, the Bible in Deuteronomy 7:6 says that God has chosen the Jewish people: "You (Israel) are a holy nation. The Lord your God has set you apart for himself. He has chosen you to be his special treasure. He chose you out of all of the nations on the face of the earth to be his people."

While it might seem this passage is saying God has favorites, it actually means that He has a special purpose for them. He chose them to show the rest of the world His love and care. God has also chosen all believers for a special purpose: to spread the good news about God's Son, Jesus, dying on the cross for our sins and then rising again.

All of us are equal in God's eyes, and He loves us all the same. It doesn't matter if you're rich or poor, boy or girl, short or tall. He doesn't have favorites, and He wants all of us to trust His Son, Jesus, and live with Him forever one day. "God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life" (John 3:16).
