God is eternal and existed before all space, time, matter, and energy. God, as an eternal Being, has the power to sustain everything He created and has eternal power, eternal plans, and eternal dominion.
God existed in eternity past and will exist into eternity future; He has always existed.

“Eternal” describes something with no end or beginning in time. Many passages of Scripture affirm the biblical concept that God is eternal. God eternally existed before He created anything. Psalm 90:2 notes, " Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.” God, who always was and always will be, has eternal power and eternal plans for humanity both now and in the future. He also has "eternal dominion" over the world (1 Timothy 6:16). The prophet Isaiah referred to God as an “Everlasting Father” and “everlasting rock” (Isaiah 9:6, 26:4). This eternal God who made and sustains all things (Colossians 1:15-17), invites us into an eternal, unending relationship with Him. Those who trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins are given eternal life (John 3:16), which impacts our eternal destiny as well as our purpose and lives today.
God is eternal without beginning or end. This same eternal infinite God desires to have an eternal unending relationship with you. However, the Bible states that all of humanity has sinned against God. That makes us deserving of eternal separation and destruction from Him in an eternal lake of fire, a place God reserved for devils and demons (Romans 3:23, Matthew 25:41-46, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Revelation 20:11-15). The good news is this: God loves you and sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to the earth on a rescue mission to save you from your sin (Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10). “For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus died and rose again from death to pay the full penalty for our sin. Those who believe in Jesus as Savior receive the gift of everlasting life and are born again to a new life as children of God (John 1:12, 2 Corinthians 5:17). Jesus calls believers to follow Him as His disciples, denying themselves and living lives of service to Him now and for eternity (1 Peter 4:1-2; Luke 9:23; Romans 12:1-2). As Christians, it is comforting to know that we serve an eternal God who is our refuge and strength, our ever present help in time of need, and that one day we will spend eternity with Him (Psalm 46:1).
