What should I do when kids are mean to me?

"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor. Hate your enemy.' But here is what I tell you. Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you" (Matthew 5:43–44).

"Make sure that nobody pays back one wrong act with another. Always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else" (1 Thessalonians 5:15).

When kids are mean, God wants us to love and pray for them.

Some kids are mean, and we don't always know why. They might be having a bad day. They might be sad because something is wrong that you don't even know about. They may have a reason to be mean, but being mean is never right.

Even though they shouldn't be mean to you, you should never be mean back. Instead, God wants you to be kind and pray for them. God always wants us to respond to other people in love.

Don't believe the mean things other kids say. If they keep on bothering you, stay away from them. Ask an adult for help if you need it, especially if kids are saying they want to hurt you.
