Do angels sin?

"He (Satan) has been sinning from the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the devil’s work" (1 John 3:8).

"Some of the angels didn’t stay where they belonged. They didn’t keep their positions of authority. The Lord has kept those angels in darkness. They are held by chains that last forever. On judgment day, God will judge them" (Jude 1:6).

"All angels are spirits who serve. God sends them to serve those who will receive salvation" (Hebrews 1:14).

Some angels did disobey God at one time.

God created angels to be sinless beings who have the ability to make choices. Many years ago, Lucifer, the highest angel, made the choice to become filled with pride. He wanted to be "God" (Isaiah 14:12–15). Because of this sin, God cast Lucifer out of heaven, for no sin can exist there. Some angels followed Lucifer (now known as Satan), and these angels are called demons in the Bible. They work for Satan to carry out his directions. Satan and the demons now work against God and try to keep as many people as possible from believing in Him. Satan and his angels are destined for eternal punishment because of their sin of rebellion against God (Revelation 20:10).

Do angels sin? There are still many good angels who serve the true and living God (Hebrews 1:14). These angels deliver messages (see Luke 26–38), fight against Satan and his demons, praise God, and do anything else God asks them to do. These angels are sinless so they can keep serving God.
