I feel a lot of stress as a kid. What can I do?

"Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you" (1 Peter 5:7).

"I tell you, do not worry. Don’t worry about your life and what you will eat or drink. And don’t worry about your body and what you will wear. Isn’t there more to life than eating? Aren’t there more important things for the body than clothes? Look at the birds of the air. They don’t plant or gather crops. They don’t put away crops in storerooms. But your Father who is in heaven feeds them. Aren’t you worth much more than they are? Can you add even one hour to your life by worrying?" (Matthew 6:25-27).

As a kid, you can give all of your stress over to God. He cares.

Stress can be caused by many things. You might be stressed about school, your parents, or growing up. All of these things can make you feel overwhelmed. At times, stress can help us, such as urging us to study for a test. Other times, stress can cause us to shut down or tune out to everything around us.

You do not need to allow stress to defeat you. When you are feeling stressed, go to God in prayer. Tell Him how you are feeling. Let Him know that you are feeling stressed and that you need His comfort. God wants to help you in your struggles. In fact, Jesus tells us that worrying cannot add even a single hour to our life (Matthew 6:25-27).

Instead of allowing stress to rule your life, give it all to God in prayer. Stress will continue to occur throughout your life, but you don't have to allow it to dictate your life. Choose ahead of time to bring every stressor to the feet of Jesus. He will carry every stressor for you.
