What does God think about pride? Is pride sin?

"...If you are proud, you will fall" (Proverbs 16:18).

"None of you should look out just for your own good. You should also look out for the good of others" (Philippians 2:4).

Pride keeps you from loving and serving God, and causes you to do things that don’t please Him.

The Bible tells us that pride is one of the seven things God hates (Proverbs 6:16-17).

Your mom might say, "I’m proud of you." That’s not the kind of pride God hates. The pride God is talking about is when you are selfish—wanting your own way, not obeying your parents, or being mean to brothers, sisters, and friends. It is when you want what is best for you without caring about others.

There is a solution to pride. That’s why Christ died on the cross and rose again. He defeated pride and promised a new kind of life where we care about others. It’s the kind of life that doesn’t want its own way.

If Jesus is your personal Savior, you can obey Jesus who lives in you and say "no" to pride and "yes" to being like Christ.
