How can I hate my own sin?
"Love must be honest and true. Hate what is evil. Hold on to what is good" (Romans 12:9).
"How can you say to your friend, 'Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye'? How can you say this while there is a piece of wood in your own eye? You pretender! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye. Then you will be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend’s eye" (Luke 6:42).
"Instead, put on the Lord Jesus Christ as if he were your clothing. Don’t think about how to satisfy sinful desires" (Romans 13:14).
By seeing your sin the same way God sees it.Sin is the bad things we do. You can learn to hate your own sin. The first step is by admitting that you have sinned (1 John 1:8). It is easy to hate the sin in other people’s lives, but when it comes to your own sin, it may be harder to pick it out. Once you admit you have sinned, you are on your way to learning to hate your sin.
The second step is to understand the consequences of your sins. If a person never believes in Jesus, they will not go to heaven because of their sin. It is only by Jesus that we can go to heaven if we believe in Him. Jesus provides forgiveness of our sins and a solution to the penalty of death.
The more you read the Bible, pray, and love God, the more you will see sin as God sees it. Sin is horrible, terrible, and causes you to be separated from God (Isaiah 59:2). Sin will cause problems in your friendships, families, and in your life. You should never cling to your sin. Instead, you should hate your sin. There is nothing good about sin.
Praise God that you can be forgiven of sins by placing faith in Jesus!
