Do Angels Exist?

"My God sent his angel. And his angel shut the mouths of the lions. They haven't hurt me at all" (Daniel 6:22a).

"But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary. God is very pleased with you. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son. You must call him Jesus'" (Luke 1:30-31).

"I saw another angel. He was flying high in the air. He came to tell everyone on earth the good news that will always be true. He told it to every nation, tribe and people, no matter what language they spoke" (Revelation 14:6).

Yes, angels are real beings created by God.

The word "angel" means "messenger" and the Bible shows that angels are responsible for giving messages to people for God (Matthew 1:20-21). Angels were created by God to worship Him and serve Him. Angels are recorded in the Bible to be powerful. They are so astounding that the angel has to say to the person who sees him; "Don’t be afraid!" (Luke 1:13).

The Bible tells us that God sends angels to protect us. For example, the angel Gabriel protected Daniel from the lions in the lion den (Daniel 6:20-23). Can you imagine how scary it would be to almost be eaten by a lion? It gives us the goosebumps!

In movies, angels have wings and they sometimes look like chubby babies. The Bible doesn’t tell us much about what angels look like, but we do know that they often look like men. The Bible does give the physical descriptions of cherubim angels and seraphim angels, and they are both quite amazing (Isaiah 6:2-6; Ezekiel 1:4-28).

Angels are real, but they are not to be worshipped because God is the only One to be worshipped (Luke 4:8).
