My aunt prays to Mary and saints. Why does she do that?

"Worship the Lord your God. He is the only one you should serve. When you make promises, do so in his name" (Deuteronomy 6:13).

"There is only one God. And there is only one go-between for God and human beings. He is the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).

"So let us boldly approach God’s throne of grace. Then we will receive mercy. We will find grace to help us when we need it" (Hebrews 4:16).

Your aunt may be Catholic.

The Catholic church teaches Catholics to ask for help from Mary and saints. When Catholics pray to Mary or saints, they believe Mary will pray to God for them. Catholics will also perform “Hail Mary’s” in honor of Mary.

Praying to Mary and/or saints is not biblical. The Bible tells us we are only to pray to God. It also tells us we should only worship God (Matthew 4:10). Mary is just a human being like you and me. She cannot hear or answer your prayers. Jesus is our Mediator, not Mary.

God hears each of our prayers and answers according to His perfect plan. God is the only One we should pray to, not to Mary or saints.
