How can I be prepared to die?

"There is a time for everything. There’s a time for everything that is done on earth. There is a time to be born. And there’s a time to die. There is a time to plant. And there’s a time to pull up what is planted" (Ecclesiastes 3:1–2).

Say with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord.' Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

"Those children have bodies made out of flesh and blood. So Jesus became human like them in order to die for them. By doing this, he could break the power of the devil. The devil is the one who rules over the kingdom of death. Jesus could set people free who were afraid of death. All their lives they were held as slaves by that fear" (Hebrews 2:14–15).

By knowing Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord, you can know you'll be with Him after you die.

Death is a scary topic, but God doesn’t want us to be scared. After we pass away, we will be with God if we place faith in Jesus. Placing faith in Jesus means that we believe He died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. If we believe in the Lord and accept Him as our Savior, we are eternally saved. This means that we can never lose our salvation.

Placing faith in Jesus also means we will have forgiveness of sins and eternal life. After we pass away, we will all face judgment (Hebrews 9:27). By having forgiveness of our sins, we won’t have to be afraid of this judgment (1 Thessalonians 1:10). Since our sins have been forgiven, we will go to be with God in Heaven. In Heaven, we will experience eternal life.

Leaving this earth can be scary, yet we can give all these fears over to God. He never intended for us to die, but ever since Adam and Eve sinned, death came into the world (Romans 5:12). Because of this, we will all face death, too. Death will sting, but we need to remember that we are only passing from this life to the next. There is nothing to fear. God will be with us every step of the way.
