What does the Bible say about purity?

"The God who chose you is holy. So you should be holy in all that you do. It is written, 'Be holy, because I am holy'" (1 Peter 1:15-16).

"The words of the LORD are perfect. They are like silver made pure in a clay furnace. They are like gold made pure seven times over" (Psalm 12:6).

"The wall was made out of jasper. The city was made out of pure gold, as pure as glass" (Revelation 21:18).

The Bible tells us purity is very important (1 Peter 1:15-16).

Purity is the quality of being clean, unblemished, and faultless. Just as God is pure, He also wants us to be pure. Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are those whose hearts are pure." Within the Bible, purity can also refer to holiness and perfection. God is the exact representation and being of purity. God is said to have pure eyes and pure words (Habakkuk 1:13; Psalm 12:6).

God created the earth pure (Genesis 1—2). There was no sin, pollution, or corruption. It wasn’t until after Adam and Eve sinned that bad things started happening. God never intended for the world to become corrupted and full of sin. He wanted it to stay pure just as He originally created it to be.

In the future, God will create a new heaven and new earth and it will be pure, holy, and perfect (Revelation 21). Until then, God wants us to live pure lives. We can do this by turning to Jesus. None of us are pure on our own. We have to turn to Him and we will be declared pure.
