Does going to church make you a Christian?

"Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'" (John 14:6).

"God's grace has saved you because of your faith in Christ. Your salvation doesn't come from anything you do. It is God's gift. It is not based on anything you have done. No one can brag about earning it" (Ephesians 2:8–9).

Going to church doesn't automatically make you a Christian.

Going to church is a good thing. It is a very important part of our lives. We can spend time singing songs to God, saying prayers, and learning from other people. God wants us to go to church and worship with other Christians.

However, the Bible does tell us very clearly that just going to church doesn't make you a Christian. People can't become a Christian without believing in Jesus and asking Him to forgive them of all the things they've done wrong. And we have all done wrong things, like lying, stealing something, disobeying our parents, or even fighting with siblings.

In the Bible, God says, "God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world. He sent his Son to save the world through him" (John 3:16–17).

Christians are followers of Jesus Christ. We have given our lives to Jesus and asked for forgiveness, so we have a changed heart. We have an attitude like Jesus, and we show His love and kindness to others.
