Is it okay for my family to take a vacation?

"In six days the LORD made the heavens, the earth, the sea and everything in them. But he rested on the seventh day. So the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy" (Exodus 20:11).

"But many people were coming and going. So they did not even have a chance to eat. Then Jesus said to his apostles, 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place. You need to get some rest'" (Mark 6:31).

"Teach us to realize how short our lives are. Then our hearts will become wise" (Psalm 90:12).

Yes, it is great for your family to take a vacation.

Vacation is a time of rest and relaxation. God created us with the need for rest. God Himself rested after He created the world (Genesis 2:2-3). He wasn’t tired, but He rested to give us an example of what we should do.

We get to spend more time with our family during vacations. This is a great thing! God loves when we invest quality time with our loved ones. We need to be good stewards with our time. Resting on vacation and hanging out with our families are two great ways to spend our time.

Our vacations can be honoring to God when we do them for the right reasons (Colossians 3:17). God created us with the natural need to rest and relax. Kick off your shoes and let's go on vacation!
