What does the Bible say about how I should treat others?

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind and with all your strength.' And here is the second one. 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.' There is no commandment more important than these" (Mark 12:30–31).

"Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive one another, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done" (Ephesians 4:32).

"You have made yourselves pure by obeying the truth. So you have an honest and true love for each other. So love one another deeply, from your hearts" (1 Peter 1:22).

The Bible says we are to treat others the way we want to be treated (Luke 6:31).

Treating others the way we want to be treated is known as the Golden Rule. Jesus taught this lesson two thousand years ago, and it still applies today. We should treat others the way we want to be treated (Matthew 7:12). This means that we are kind, caring, and loving to all people. Since we would not want others to be mean, angry, or hurtful to us, we shouldn't act this way toward them.

If we are going to follow Jesus, we are going to share His love in our actions. This means that we love others as the Lord loves us. Even if someone has been mean to us, we still need to be kind to them. We should never repay evil with evil or insult with insult (1 Peter 3:9). Instead, we are to repay evil and insults with blessings.

If we love the Lord, we will want to do the right thing. Part of doing the right thing is treating others with respect and kindness. When we do this, we will truly be shining bright for Jesus. Choose to treat others the way you want to be treated, and you will be able to see a radical change in your life. You will bring glory to God and help others know they are valued.
