Why did God put scary stories in the Bible?
“Those things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us. That’s because we are living at the time when God’s work is being completed” (1 Corinthians 10:11).
“God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right” (2 Timothy 3:16).
God included scary stories in the Bible in order to teach us.The people in the Bible are real people who lived and died. Their situations were sometimes scary, but God knew we could learn from their mistakes and so He included their situations in the Bible. The stories weren’t intended to scare us, but to teach us. God is trying to help us know how to live.
There are some stories in the Bible where people disobeyed God and then scary things happened to them. These stories can teach us how important it is to obey God and choose to do good rather than evil.
