วันชดเชยบาป เป็นวันฉลองสำคัญที่สุดวันหนึ่งของชาวยิว เรียกว่า “Yom Kippur” ในเดือนกันยายน ในวันนี้มหาสมณะจะต้องถวายบูชาเพื่อชดเชยบาปของประชากรอิสราเอล (ดู ลนต 16:29-34) ชาวยิวยังฉลองวันนี้ด้วยในปัจจุบัน จดหมายถึงชาวฮีบรู (บทที่ 9-10) กล่าว ว่าวันนี้เป็นรูปแบบของวันสิ้นพระชนม์และกลับคืนพระชนมชีพของพระเยซูเจ้า
