Do people still live in the places the Bible talks about?

"I'm giving you his rules and commands today. Obey them. Then things will go well with you and your children after you. You will live a long time in the land. The LORD your God is giving you the land for all time to come" (Deuteronomy 4:40).

Yes, millions of people live in parts of the world where the Bible events took place.

You may have heard of the countries of Israel, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq. Much of the Bible took place in those countries. In fact, Jesus’ ministry took place in Israel. You might also recognize some of the countries Paul visited like Turkey, Greece, and Italy.

Each year, thousands of people visit the countries where the Bible events took place. This part of the world is often known as the Holy Land. Visitors can still see many historical sites where Jesus and others in the Bible walked.

These countries now have modern cities with skyscrapers and large highways.

Ask your parents to help you find Israel in an atlas or on an online map. Look and see how far Israel is from where you live.
