Can God sin?

"...your Father in heaven is perfect" (Matthew 5:48b).

"The Lord is honest and good. He teaches sinners to walk in his ways" (Psalm 25:8).

"But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure" (1 John 1:9).

God can’t sin. Sinning would go against His nature.

When we make a bad choice or disobey God, that’s called sin. The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23a: "Everyone has sinned." Even the nicest person you know has sinned at some point in his or her life. This is because long ago, when the world began, the first two people disobeyed God and brought sin into the world.

The only one who doesn’t sin is God. God is perfect. In fact, God can’t sin, because it would go against everything He is. Jesus is God, which means He is perfect too. That’s why Jesus was able to die for our sins. Only a sinless person could have taken the punishment we deserve. We won’t ever stop sinning while we live on Earth, but we can look at Jesus’ life for a perfect example of how God wants us to live.

If God sinned, it would be hard to follow Him, wouldn't it? But because God never sins, we can worship Him for being holy and perfect.
