What is church history?

"When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers gathered in one place. Suddenly a sound came from heaven. It was like a strong wind blowing. It filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw something that looked like fire in the shape of tongues. The flames separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to speak in languages they had not known before. The Spirit gave them the ability to do this" (Acts 2:1-4).

"God’s power has given us everything we need to lead a godly life. All of this has come to us because we know the God who chose us. He chose us because of his own glory and goodness" (2 Peter 1:3).

"Those things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us. That’s because we are living at the time when God’s work is being completed" (1 Corinthians 10:11).

Church history includes everything that happened throughout the church over the course of history.

The church began on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:2-4), which was 50 days after Jesus’ resurrection. Three thousand people chose to follow Jesus that day! Church history covers that event through the current time. During the days of the early church fathers, they tested each church doctrine. By their testing, they were able to test and approve the key essentials of Christianity that we have today.

If anything was brought to the early leaders of the church was wrong, they would not keep it.

Over the course of church history, there have been many times when false beliefs would come up and they would have to be rejected. The same teachings the Apostles taught are still being carried out today.

It is important to know church history because it helps us see where the church started and where we are now. The church may have a long time left, but one day Jesus will take the church to be with Him.
