Will we know people in heaven?

"Just then Moses and Elijah appeared in front of them. Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus. Peter said to Jesus, 'Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters. One will be for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah'" (Matthew 17:3-4).

"Jesus said to them, 'Come and have breakfast.' None of the disciples dared to ask him, 'Who are you?' They knew it was the Lord" (John 21:12).

"The first man came from the dust of the earth. The second man came from heaven" (1 Corinthians 15:47).

Yes, we will know people in heaven.

When we pass on and go to heaven, we will be reunited with our loved ones who have passed before us. All people who believe in Jesus’ death and resurrection for their salvation will be in heaven with us. Even though it will be awesome to see our loved ones again, our main focus will be on Jesus. It will be such an amazing day to see Jesus face to face.

We will recognize our loved ones in heaven. Many individuals in the Bible were recognizable after death, including Abraham, Lazarus, and the rich man (Luke 16:19-31). In addition to the people we knew during our earthly life, we will make many new friends throughout our eternity. We will all live in perfect harmony with one another forever.

The Bible tells us that we will be like Jesus when we die. 1 John 3:2 says “Dear friends, now we are children of God. He still hasn’t let us know what we will be. But we know that when Christ appears, we will be like him. That’s because we will see him as he really is.” God will glorify our bodies just as Jesus’ body was glorified. In our glorified bodies, we will be able to recognize our loved ones and they will be able to recognize us.
