Why do my parents get mad at me?

"Instead, we will speak the truth in love. So we will grow up in every way to become the body of Christ. Christ is the head of the body" (Ephesians 4:15).

"Get rid of all hard feelings, anger and rage. Stop all fighting and lying. Don’t have anything to do with any kind of hatred. Be kind and tender to one another. Forgive one another, just as God forgave you because of what Christ has done" (Ephesians 4:31-32).

Parents aren’t perfect and sometimes they get upset.

When kids disobey their parents, sometimes parents get mad. Good parents want their kids to make right choices and do what is right. When kids make bad choices, sometimes the parents respond in anger because they are frustrated.

Not all anger is sin. There is a type of anger called "righteous anger" that the Bible approves of. Good anger is a passion or energy that helps us solve problems. This might happen when a parent corrects you or punishes you when you make a wrong choice.

Most of the anger we show isn’t righteous anger though. It is sinful anger. A parent’s anger is sometimes caused by a hard day or being tired. Parents are human and they make mistakes. This happens when they don’t do what God wants them to do.

As a kid, how does God want you to respond when your parent gets mad? God wants you to love your parents and pray for them. When you react in a loving way instead of yelling, you can help them stay calm.
