What does the Bible say about alcohol?
"Don’t fill yourself up with wine. Getting drunk will lead to wild living. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18).
"So eat and drink and do everything else for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).
"Some of you say, 'I have the right to do anything.' But not everything is helpful. Again some of you say, 'I have the right to do anything.' But I will not be controlled by anything" (1 Corinthians 6:12).
Drinking alcohol is not a sin for an adult, but getting drunk is.The Bible mentions alcohol many times. Nowhere in the Bible does God forbid alcohol, but He does forbid becoming intoxicated, which is a big word for becoming drunk. When someone drinks too much alcohol it impairs their brain function which, results in poor judgement, slow reactions and loss of motor skills. The Bible tells us not to become impaired by alcohol (Ephesians 5:18).
Jesus drank wine during His ministry (Matthew 26:29) and His first miracle was turning water into wine (John 2:1-11).
As a kid, you should not drink alcohol. When you are legally old enough, you will have the choice whether or not you think drinking alcohol is best for you. You can talk it over with God and your parents. With God and your parents' help, you can decide the best course of action to take.
