My friend's parents are getting a divorce. What can I do?
"A friend loves at all times. They are there to help when trouble comes" (Proverbs 17:17).
"Carry one another’s heavy loads. If you do, you will fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2).
You can help your friend by praying, listening, and being a friend no matter what.When someone's parents are getting divorced, they often feel sad, mad, disappointed, or confused. They might be scared about what their life will be like after the divorce, where they will live, and other things. While there's nothing you can do to change your friend's situation, this is a great chance to show true friendship and love your friend through this difficult time. God calls us to help each other in hard times (see Galatians 6:2 below).
Pray for God to comfort and encourage your friend. Pray that God will give you the right words to say, and show you how you can help. Be willing to listen when your friend wants to talk. Don't give up on your friend, even if he or she is having a bad day and is hard to be around. Friends love each other, and part of that love is walking with each other through the tough stuff of life.
