Why is is sometimes hard to be a Christian?
"Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you" (1 Peter 5:7).
"So do not be afraid. I am with you. Do not be terrified. I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. I will hold you safe in my hands. I always do what is right" (Isaiah 41:10).
We might feel different from others, but God is always with us.It is sometimes hard to be a Christian when a lot of kids at your school or in your neighborhood don’t believe in Jesus like you do. Sometimes you might be afraid that they will think you’re weird or different from them.
We might feel sad when our neighbors or classmates do things that are wrong, like when they lie, steal, fight, disobey, and cheat. They might not see what’s wrong with doing those things because they haven’t been taught God’s Word. When they want to do wrong things, they might want us to join them. It is sometimes hard to say no. God wants you to always do the right thing.
When we are afraid of what others might think, we can remember what Jesus said. "'I will never leave you. I will never desert you.' So we can say boldly, 'The Lord helps me. I will not be afraid. What can mere human beings do to me?'" (Hebrews 13:5-6). That is comforting because we don’t need to be afraid of being rejected.
We can pray for courage like Joshua had. God told him, "Here is what I am commanding you to do. Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the LORD your God. I will be with you everywhere you go" (Joshua 1:9).
