Why did Satan fall from heaven?

"Say with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord.' Believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead. Then you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).

"Jesus replied, 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven'" (Luke 10:18).

"...You (Satan) thought you were the bright morning star. But now you have fallen from heaven!" (Isaiah 14:12).

Lucifer wanted to be more powerful than God.

Satan, also called the devil, is God’s greatest enemy. He goes against everything God does, and doesn’t want anyone to go to heaven to be with God. The Bible says he’s our enemy too. He wants us to keep making bad choices and sin against God.

Did you know that Satan used to be a beautiful angel and servant of God? He used to live in heaven, and his name was Lucifer. But one day, Lucifer decided that he wanted to be more powerful than God. He didn’t want to be a servant anymore. So he gathered some other angels and tried to take God’s place. But no one can be more powerful than God. Because Lucifer tried to do this horrible thing, God threw him and all the angels who followed him out of heaven (see Isaiah 14:12–13). After that, Lucifer became known as Satan.

Satan doesn’t want God to win in the end. But guess what? God is much more powerful than Satan! He sent Jesus to die on a cross and rise again so everyone who believes in Him could be saved (see Acts 16:31). When we believe in Jesus, Satan doesn’t have power over us anymore. Isn’t that good news?
