When is Jesus coming back?

"So you also must be ready. The Son of Man will come at an hour when you don't expect him" (Matthew 24:44).

"For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

"The Lord himself will come down from heaven. We will hear a loud command. We will hear the voice of the leader of the angels. We will hear a blast from God's trumpet. Many who believe in Christ will have died already. They will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them. We will be taken up in the clouds. We will meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with him forever" (1 Thessalonians 4:16–17).

Only God the Father knows when Jesus is coming back the second time.

Some people try to figure out a date when Jesus is returning to earth. But God says in the Bible that no one will know the date or the time (Mark 13:32–33)!

After Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, God took Him up to heaven while the disciples were watching. Two angels appeared and said that Jesus would return one day (Acts 1:10–11). Those who believe Jesus should watch for His return, loving and obeying Him.

On a day that only God the Father knows, Jesus will return and take His followers to live with Him forever. Then He will judge the people left on earth for their sin. They will be separated forever from God in a place of punishment. But believers will live forever with God in the new heaven and earth He creates (Revelation 21—22).
