Part of our job as ushers is to create a welcoming environment. The Bible encourages hospitality in various verses, and we see this as a central tenet of our ministry. It’s important that everyone feels like they belong when they enter our church. In Hebrews 13:2, we are reminded that showing hospitality is important because sometimes, we may unknowingly entertain angels! This thought inspires us, knowing that our greetings and smiles can impact not just the people who walk through our doors, but potentially someone extraordinary. As we strive to ensure that every member and visitor feels welcomed and loved, we contribute to building a strong and vibrant community of faith.

As ushers, we play a unique role in fostering a spirit of unity among congregants. In Ephesians 4:3, we learn the importance of making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Every smile, every greeting, and every moment we take to care for others in the church helps to build this unity. The atmosphere we create influences both relationships and faith. When our church feels unified, it reflects the love of Christ in a powerful way. This unity creates an environment that encourages everyone to come together in worship and fellowship, allowing God's spirit to move freely among us. As ushers, we take part in the critical work of building relationships within our church community. In Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, we see that two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. By building relationships, we create a supportive environment that encourages growth in our faith and strengthens our community. We want our congregants to feel they are part of a family, where everyone supports and uplifts one another. Every smile and greeting can bridge gaps and lead to deeper connections, making our church a place of belonging.

Our kindness can serve as a reminder of God’s love and mercy, prompting others to share that love with those they encounter outside the church as well.
